Bethel Young Adult Ministry
Light and Salt Vision Statement
Light and Salt is a fellowship young adults of Bethel His Way Ministry, which strives to cultivate Gospel transformed lives by connecting with God personally in formative worship, with God’s people in an alternate community, and God’s purposes by joining in His Mission.
Core Values
- Gospel-The Gospel is the “good news” of Jesus Christ that states that though we were sinners and subject to God’s punishment and wrath, Christ died in our place and took our punishment and gave us his righteousness instead. The Gospel tells us that we are more wicked and evil than we ever dared imagine but we are also more loved and accepted than we ever dared hoped. True transformation happens when we gain identities as sinners saved by grace.
- Worship as Formation-Worship, both personal and corporate, ushers the worshipper into the very presence of God. It is the continual experience of seeing the revelation of God, the story of the Gospel, which shapes and forms the participants, remaking them in the image of Jesus Christ.
- Community that is Alternate-Christians are not saved just for a personal relationship with God but also to be part of a community. This community however stands apart from the world as an alternate community. The community is characterized by holiness and grace, the reversal of worldly values, and mutual belonging.
- Purpose as the Mission of God- We believe “we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.(Eph 2:10)” This is the end purpose of our lives and community. We are not trying to simply build a community for ourselves but rather to transform the world as a people “sent” by God.
