Aunt Mable's House is dedicated to the memory of two women -- Aunt Mable and the late Mable Pierson. Aunt Mable lived in the property which is located on East Biddle Street on the East side of Baltimore City.
She donated it to Bishop Stanley M. Butler of Sanctuary Church as a sanctuary for homeless women. The late Mable Pierson, no relation to Aunt Mable, raised Mrs. Glenda Butler and her sister from
the age of 7 until Mrs. Butler married Bishop Stanley M. Butler at the age of 29. The late Mable Pierson never had any biological children of her own but she loved and nurtured many during her lifetime.
Because of their dynamic and loving ministry, Bishop Stanley M. Butler thought it a fitting tribute to honor these two great women of God by establishing Aunt Mable's House as an everlasting memorial to their compassion and love.
Aunt Mable's House will provide transitional housing for homeless women, who are lost in life's despair and hopelessness, women who have lost their sense of direction in the heart of the inner city in East Baltimore.
Bethel Church is playing an integral, active, and exciting role in the life of Aunt Mable's House along with several Baltimore inner city ministries.
Our vision is to be able to use our gifts and talents and other resources to enrich the lives of least 6 women in a God-centered and structured environment to God's Glory. These women will transition at Aunt Mable's House for a period of one to two years.
We believe they will be prepared to re-enter society as successful and model citizens because of the time we invest in their lives and well being. Their spiritual, physical, and intellectual needs will need to be provided for.
We will need anointed professional, paraprofessional, and other anointed men and women of God to lend their talents and gifts to Aunt Mable's House.
Aunt Mable's House is slated to welcome its first occupants in 2007. There is a need for cleaning products (Ajax, comet. bleach, etc), linen (bath/wash towels etc), and toiletries (toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorants, etc.) as well as a van for transportation at this point. As Aunt Mable' House gets off the ground, there will be a need for computers and GED programs, health advisors and financial planners and advisors as an aid to develope, equip, and nurture these women.
At Aunt Mable's House, they say "This is the season for better living'. Their goal is to do ministry everyday by using their gifts and talents by the Word that people might be saved spiritually as well as physically. Aunt Mable's House is about doing business for Jesus as an adventure in 21st century Ministry.
