Mission Statement: by use of the blessings from Bethel and other churches, to bring the love, life, and gospel of Jesus Christ to women trapped in addiction
and to the residents living in the surrounding area of Wilkens Avenue and Monroe Street in Baltimore City, through the carrying out of the commands in Isaiah 61:
- to preach good news to the poor
- to bind up the brokenhearted
- to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners
- to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God
- to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve
- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

What does HOPE Ministry do?
I. VAN OUTREACHES are held on the 1st and 2nd Sundays of every month. We leave at 2pm from the church library and return at 5pm. We drive in the church van to the area (about 20 minutes away, a couple miles west of Raven's Stadium) and hand out tracts, food, gifts, clothing, and information on addiction and social services to the women we see outside. Along with reaching out to the women, we meet with some area residents struggling with various problems. Words of prayer and comfort are given to those we meet to make known the saving name of Christ, so that by all possible means some may be saved.
II. ANNUAL EVENTS
1. Easter Block Party The area residents and women we minister to are invited for a neighborhood block party on Easter afternoon. A message is given. Hotdogs and chips are served. Story-telling, balloons, and face-painting are provided for the children. This year we'll make it legal and get an official block permit.
2. Thanksgiving Luncheon Small group members help to cook and prepare a 100 boxed lunches to be served in the community. Residents and the women stop by for some warm food and warm smiles.
3. Christmas Eve "Jesus is Coming to Town" Night Gifts are made for the neighborhood children. Dolls for the girls and trucks for the boys are wrapped along with a Christmas story tract and candy canes. We put lights on the church van and go around on Christmas Eve reminding the children that "Christ"mas is all about the Savior. That's after they stop jumping up and down for the gifts.

III. HOME MEETINGS will be at various times during the week or weekends down in the area. We'll be meeting with women whom we've been establishing relationships with over the year. It'll be a time to break bread, go over some Biblical truths, and an opportunity to listen and talk to the women in an unhurried cozy environment in an effort to build deeper discipling relationships.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
It is our church's goal to have every member participate at least once this year in an outreach event. We would like to encourage you to perhaps participate in 1 van outreach this year, with no further commitments required. First time participants in the van outreach remain in the van at all times. So it's pretty safe.
Many volunteers will be needed for each of the the Annual Events-from wrapping, cooking, bringing supplies, etc. Be looking for church announcements during those times.
Donations of women's clothing and items will be collected at specific times during the year. So save those items please.
